Sikkim SPIO fined Rs 4500 for delay

The Right to Information Act 2005 is no more a child's play, this example is being set in Sikkim Administration for the first time which has slammed hard on the official who tried to take it lightly. An educated unemployed youth hailing from South Sikkim seeked for a detailed information under the provision of RTI Act 2005 over the repairing works of Rangpo Tourist Cafeteria for which he placed a written requisition to Chief Information Officer at the capital on 23 July 2010. The CIO processed his request and instructed the consigned department to furnish the details within 30 days i.e 23rd August 2010. Unfortunately the State Public Information Officer (SPIO) furnished the detailed delaying 18 days which exceeded the prescribed timeline given to the department.
