FIR against Goa Congress MLA after RTI exposes forgery

The Goa police on Friday registered a first information report (FIR) in Mapusa in North Goa against Dayanand G. Narvekar, president of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) and a ruling Congress MLA and his family members on charges of forging his son's birth certificate to make him eligible for a national-level Under-15 Cricket tournament for the third time beating rules. Mr. Narvekar, former Law Minister, his wife Sushma Narvekar, his son Ganeshraj Narvekar and Ravindra Chodankar have been named as accused in the FIR registered by the Mapusa police based on a complaint by Shekhar Salkar, former GCA executive member.
