Rs 26 cr paid for Games projects, says NDMC

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has paid Rs 26 crore to consultants and non-government organisations engaged in construction and streetscaping projects for the Games during the last five years. This was revealed after Information Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi asked the Delhi government, NDMC and the MCD to put up information relating to tenders, nature of work and details of appointment of consultants or NGOs for implementation of Games projects on their websites. The Commission asked the Delhi government to comply under Section 4 of the RTI Act, which provides for voluntary disclosure of information by a public authority.
