No guidelines for hygiene in Delhi eateries, CIC told

Delhi government officials recently admitted that there were "no proper guidelines" to check hygiene levels in restaurants and hotels in the city. This candid acceptance is likely to stir concern among overseas visitors who are planning to travel to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games. Responding to an RTI query asking for information on guidelines issued by the Delhi government regarding food safety standards, officials said there were "no proper guidelines". They admitted this during a hearing before the Central Information Commission. With the Games just two months away, Delhi government's sub-divisional magistrates including Satish Kumar, P R Jha and V P Singh said there were "no proper guidelines to check the hygiene standards for hotels, restaurants or vendors of food items".
