Headmen under RTI Act

Traditional institutions in Meghalaya, including village headmen, were brought under the purview of the Right To Information Act, 2005, by the Shillong bench of Gauhati High Court today. The court ruling was the result of a petition filed by the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People, a non-governmental organisation, after a Khasi chief refused to provide information on revenue collection.
