Amit Jethava murder trail going dry

It was murder most foul when Amit Jethava, an RTI and wildlife activist, was shot dead by two unidentified assailants right opposite Gujarat High Court on July 20 night. However, after initial uproar, the police teams from city crime branch and zone I are going slow due to lack of clues. According to Sola police, Jethava was shot dead with a country-made revolver found from the spot. The assailants' bike was also recovered from the spot. Jethava was shot dead when he was coming out of Satyamev Complex, housing
Gujarat Bar Association office. The murder took place around 8-8.30 pm, generally a busy time for the advocates. Jethava was there to consult his lawyers regarding a public interest litigation (PIL) he had filed. When contacted, crime branch officials said that identification of the assailants had already been done. However, it was feared that they had already left the state and could not be traced at the moment. However, efforts were on to get their footprints, they claimed. Refusing to divulge details, they only said that it was a contract killing.
