RTI applications: Govt agencies adopt evasive stance

The Right to Information is a tool in the hands of the people to extract information from the government agencies. But in most cases, the authorities adopt tough stance and refuse to furnish information on flimsy ground. In one such case, a government agency has not given information to an RTI applicant, stating that he should deposit fees per point asked in the application and then only his queries would be answered.
Sadiabad corporator Rajiv Arya has asked numerous questions from Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) through RTI but the latter did not answer to various queries raised by him. The corporator has submitted the money through a postal order. But the agency refused to answer, saying that Arya should submit the money according to the number of points asked in the application.
