'Registered documents are beyond RTI'

The State Government on Thursday (22-07-2010) contended before the Karnataka High Court that documents relating to registration of property, including sale deeds, which are with the office of the Sub-Registrars, cannot be obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The Government made this submission when the court was hearing a petition by a sub-registrar challenging an order of the Commissioner, Information Commission, directing him to furnish to a resident of Bangalore, sale deed of a property under the RTI Act.
