RTI activists seek details of info panel chief's trips

Right to Information (RTI) activists in the city have asked state governor K Sankara-narayanan to instruct state chief information commis sioner (SCIC) Suresh Joshi to furnish a report of the out come of his foreign tours made with public money If he fails to do so, the amount should be recovered from his salary. RTI activists Vihar Durve, Jugal Rathi, Vivek Velankar, Vijay Kumbhar, Shahid Burney, Ramesh Phondge and SB Repale have jointly sent a let ter to Sankaranarayanan. The activists have pointed out in the letter that Joshi travelled abroad four times between 2006 and 2010 by spending Rs11 lakh. He was expected to file a report about what he learnt from the tours regarding disposal of pend ing RTI appeals and ensuring utility of the law for common people.
