Rajasthan Govt Asked to Disclose Info Against Raje

The Chief Information Commission of Rajasthan has asked the state government to disclose reasons that led to the constitution of a commission to look into allegations of corruption against the previous BJP government. Pursuant to an RTI application, the CIC has directed Department of Personal (DoP) to seek information from the Chief Minister's Office on what led to the setting up of Mathur Commission to probe allegations of corruption amounting to Rs 22,000 crore and power misuse by the Vasundhara Raje regime during 2004-2008. The CIC, in its May 10 notice, also sought disclosure of all official notings and decisions taken to appointment Mathur panel including the approval of the Governor. An RTI applicant had approached CIC after the High Court held illegal the constitution of the panel. However, the information was not made available under the provisions of RTI Act.
