MP CM's office returns RTI on Bhopal

A Right to Information (RTI) application seeking details on the escape of then Union Carbine chief Warren Anderson from India in the aftermath of the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984 has been reportedly returned by the office of the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister. The Chief Minister's office has pleaded that it does not have the post of Central Public Information Officer, who deals with RTI applications, media reports claimed on Friday. The application was filed by social activist S C Agarwal, seeking to know if it was true that the then Chief Minister Arjun Singh assisted in the escape of Anderson from Bhopal on December 17, 1984. He had also asked about action taken against Arjun Singh by present Madhya Pradesh government and those guilty for the escape of Anderson.
However, the RTI application has been returned on a ground which stands contrary to the guidelines of the Act.
