CIC summons 3 IIT officials to fix responsibility on delay in giving
In an unusual case, the Central Information Commission has summoned three senior officials and academics from IIT Kharagpur to fix responsibility for delay in providing information to an applicant. The CIC has asked the institute's dean, registrar and assistant registrar to appear before the Commission on May 24 to inquire into the veracity of their statements. Applicant Prof Rajeev Kumar has asked for information relating to honorarium received by people from IIT. Not only was there a six-month delay in giving information but the Commission felt that the officials were passing the buck.
