Rita case: UP no to RTI query
The Uttar Pradesh government has refused to give details of the money spent on the special helicopter ride that helped special prosecution officer IB Singh and his team reach Moradabad overnight on July 17, 2009 to oppose bail to state Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, taking the line that the information is secret and not covered under the Right to Information Act (RTI). Singh was rushed in to oppose the bail application of Joshi who was arrested for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Mayawati. The bail was rejected by Additional District Judge, Moradabad, and Joshi was sent on 14 days judicial remand.
