Nearly 87.5 per cent weights and measures used in Chandigarh are unverified

Out of every eight weights and measures inspected by the Chandigarh Administration, seven are unstamped, unverified and against packaging rules. The facts were revealed in response to an application filed by a local resident under the Right to Information Act. According to the figures supplied by the UT Department of Weights and Measures,
there are around 87.50 per cent weights and measures, which are unverified, unstamped and against the packaging rules. City resident R K Garg, who filed the application under the RTI Act, sought information from the UT Administration on the inspection and checking done to verify weights and measures used in the city.
