Babu denies info to RTI applicant, faces pay cut

Refusing information to an octogenarian under the Right To Information Act (RTI) has cost a Delhi government official dear. Around Rs 4,500 will deducted from his salary every month for the next five months as penalty for violating the RTI act provisions. The salary cut was imposed on the official by the Central Information Commission (CIC).
Radhey Shyam Agarwal, 80, had approached the Department of Trade & Taxes of the Delhi government in June to seek a copy of an affidavit that someone had allegedly given in his name to get a VAT number.
