RTI Activists Demand For Action Against Dr. Krishna
About 35 Activists representing 15 Forums met Mr. K A Thippeswamy and Mr. Virupakshaiah, Information Commissioners and submitted a Memorandum listing out their demands. A copy of the representation is reproduced below: The Meeting was convened in the Court Hall No.1 of the KIC and Activists demanded immediate action against Dr. Krishna, Information Commissioner. Another round of meeting is arranged on 22.6.2009 at 6 PM with the Chief Information Commissioner to press their demands. During the meeting members raised concern on corruption issue alleged to have been practicing in the Commission at various levels and demanded for an appropriate mechanism to contain the same. Dr.Krishna against whom allegations have been made although present in the Commission did not attend the meeting. AFterwards participants discussd about the future course of action to safeguard the interest of the RTI Users since many applicants are afraid of appearing before the commission to present their cases.

SUB :: ASSAULT ON RTI APPLICANT REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION.
We, the undersigned Citizens, strongly condemn the Assault on Mr. Nagesh, a complainant before the Commission, on 17th of June 2009 in Court Hall No.3 of the Commission. We demand an enquiry into the whole episode where Dr. H N Krishna, Information Commissioner is alleged to be involved. We therefore demand for immediate Suspension of all the employees who assaulted Mr. Nages with immediate effect. In the meanwhile we also request you to withdraw all cases allotted to Dr. H N Krishna till the completion of the enquiry since the assault was alleged to be carried out in the presence and supervision of Dr. Krishna.
As a Citizen of this country we also demand the following for smooth functioning of the Commission in the Public Interest.
Stop humiliating the Petitioners while hearing the cases Commissioners should Stop meeting Public Information Officers either personally or over telephone against whom complaints and appeals are pending before the commission .
Commissioners should treat the Applicants with respect and dignity during the hearing of the Petitions. Set up a Mechanism to eradicate corruption that exists in your Commission at all Levels. Stop black listing of Petitioners while passing Final orders which is illegal. Set up a Help Desk for the benefit of Citizens.
Commissioners are not Dictators - Arrange Proper Training for them. Disclose Call List of all Telephones provided to Commissioners. Stop using unparliamentary words and derogatory remarks against Petitioners during hearing of Petitions. Treat Women Petitioners with Respect and Dignity.
If the Commissioners still continue with their old habits then we shall be constrained to take up further action as deemed fit in the Public Interest.
