Intention of information seeker not important: Goa SIC
The intention of the citizen asking information under the right to information act should not be the concern of the information officer, is what a recent order of the Goa state information commission (SIC) says. Stating that, "the citizen's intention in asking information need not be gone into as per the provisions of the RTI Act", the SIC dismissed arguments by the Mapusa municipal council's information officer, in
connection with an RTI application by Ribandar resident Kashinath Shetye. MMC had alleged that the appellant was "harassing all the municipalities and corporations in Goa and hence, the request for information is made with mala fide intention".
