RTI brings water to 14 houses in Pallavaram after a year-long wait

If Tamil Nadu has a long history of disputes over sharing of water with its neighbouring states, the plight of its residents is no better when it comes to getting their legitimate share of drinking water from the civic bodies. Fourteen houses at Thiruthani Nagar in Pallavaram municipality, which had to wage a protracted battle with the civic body for close to one year for getting drinking water connections, finally managed to get justice, thanks to an application filed under the Right to Information
(RTI) Act and the subsequent intervention of the state information commission.
