As per the provisions of the Right to Information Act, the Tamil Nadu Information Commission has slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 as penalty on the Executive Officer (EO), Kuruchi III Grade Municipality in Coimbatore, for his failure to provide the information sought by a petitioner. The petitioner, T Sukheendran of Konavaikkalpalayam, in his submission, had stated that he had sought an information with the EO in connection with the modalities of water supply connection in Kuruchi area. The EO allegedly showed no interest to furnish the information.
