Central Information panel draws flak for its inaction

The Central Information Commission today came under sustained criticism for the "tardy" progress in disposing of a huge number of complaints filed before it under the Right to Information Act (RTI).

Speaking at the panel discussion on "information and development" of the grassroots summit-2006, Arvind Kejriwal, member of the Parivartan, an NGO, said out of the 911 complaints filed before the commission since the act came into force in October 2005, only 83 orders have been passed by the panel.
