PIOs know little about right-to-know pleas
As per the Act, the departments have to submit a quarterly report on the applications to the Right to Information Commission. Four months after the launch, the State authorities are still struggling with non-availability of figures and details regarding the applications. Without this information, it is difficult to say what kind of information is being sought, and by whom. While the authorities describe this as teething problems, the Public Information Officers (PIOs) admit that lack of a proper system is the problem.
